1. INTERNET RADIO SHOW. Don't forget to tune in to www.artistfirst.com THIS FRIDAY at 8pm PST to hear another inspired hour on "Poets + Composers" featuring the best of Bay Area talent. It's Friday the 13th and what more appropriate way to celebrate than to listen to the howling duo, Baywolf! In addition, we are replaying the interview and intriguing vocals of singer/songwriter Eric Moore. It was a pleasure to hang with these talented, creative, and funny folks.

Baywolf is hosting a monthly show at the Brainwash Café on Folsom Street. The first one is scheduled for Saturday, January 17th, and will include Eric Moore (yes, we ARE all one happy family here in Copus land!). Copus has been asked to be included in the April 24th event, so stay tuned for further details.

Upcoming radio shows: In January there will be a dynamic show featuring the powerful vocals of reggae sensation, Ras Digital. Also on the calendar, Andrew Tosh (son of the famous cornerstone of reggae, Peter Tosh, to whom we pay deep respect) - we are working on a special show that will be a tribute to his father. Date TBA.

2. GIGS. This coming SUNDAY, DECEMBER 14th, Copus is honored to be a participant in the Strong Medicine Show #2 organized and produced by ramu aki. Those of you who are regular "Poets + Composers" listeners will no doubt recall the great poetic stylings and thoughtful reflections that only ramu aki can deliver. The Sunday event promises to be a spiritual powerhouse, so come on down to the Tenderloin and see what's really going on! Faithful Fools Tenderloin Sanctuary - 234 Hyde @ Turk. 4-8pm. $5-25 donation.

Vallejo. We just can't get enough of the energy that exudes through the walls of Rafael's Bar in Vallejo. Copus will be the feature again on THURSDAY, DECEMBER 18th. For those of you who don't venture off the San Francisco peninsula, it's time to pull out those crumpled $2 for the Bay Bridge toll and head over for a night of inspired words and music. Take route 80 to Tennessee Street West exit, R on Nebraska at the corner of Sonoma. 9pm. $5 cover. 707-645-1333 for more information.

Both gigs will show off the Copus quartet featuring Monica Williams (flute), Greg McRay (drums), Wendy Loomis (piano, composition), and Royal Kent (poet, spoken word artist). Special guest Kenneth Collins will be playing percussion. For those of you who have been devoted followers of Copus from the beginning, you will recall that Ken played congas at the early days of Arena Interplay. We're glad to have him back in the mix!

3. SONGSALIVE (www.songsalive.org). When Copus was performing at the Women's Art Festival in Long Beach, we met up with some folks from this wonderful organization. Since then, Wendy's composition, 'obsession', was selected to be included on the next SongsAlive compilation CD which is distributed at various music festivals and conferences worldwide. The CD will be released in January, so expect an announcement soon about a party!

At the helm of SongsAlive is the Australian dynamo singer/songwriter/producer/orator/author, Gilli Moon. We met her in person at the Nashville conference and she's quite an inspiration. This week she is in town opening for the Eric Idle tour (of Monty Python fame), so go check it out tonight and tomorrow night at the Fillmore. 8pm.

4. ON THE BURNERS - 2004. We are working hard in the pre-production phase of the TV show that will parallel the radio show, "Poets + Composers". It will be a weekly, 30-minute production featuring live guest interviews and performances by independent artists with a positive message. All artistic mediums will be represented, including poetry, music, dance, photography, theatre, technology, and visual arts. Artists will also supply video or film footage which will be interspersed with the live material. All very exciting stuff for you to anticipate in the New Year!

Save a space on your social calendars for a special Valentine's event tentatively scheduled for February 12th at the beautiful Jean Shelton Theatre off Union Square. The night will include performances by Copus and many fine musicians, poets, and dancers, as well as the showing of the award-winning short film, "Timezones", by Danish filmmaker Nikolai Ostergaard. If that's not enough for you, following the show there will be a fun, stress-free speed dating hookup where we guarantee you'll meet some new, intelligent, creative folks and you can go home with a pile of phone numbers and email addresses! Details to follow.

5. COPUS PHOTOGRAPHER. We would like to welcome Katherine Kemerait to the Copus team as the official photographer. Kathi is a true Gemini, in that she is a successful businessperson at Bank of America by day and a devotee of reggae and picture taker by night. We promise to share some of her works with you soon!

6. POETRY CORNER. This month's feature poem is by one of the brilliant young people at McAuley Institute in San Francisco. We cannot publish his name, but trust that his words will shine through to your heart on a subject matter to which we can all relate - first love!

Sad and Love Struck

People say I am love struck because I am in love with this girl. Her hair is a dark shade of happiness and heart breaking laughter. When she smiles I get happy and when she's said I get sad. One day my heart was shattered from what my friend told me. He told me something bad of what my love said about me. Now I can't find another because she was my first romance and she broke my heart. I'm afraid to go find another because they might do the same thing, but now I am sad and 'Love struck'!

Thanks to all of you for your love and positive thoughts!
