1. COPUS GIGS.
If you have not made the trek across to Vallejo yet, here is a perfect opportunity! On THURSDAY, JUNE 10th, Copus has been asked to return once again to the glorious 'Listen + Be Heard' event hosted by Tony Mims and Martha Cinader at the infamous Rafael's Bar. There are tons of great poets and musicians hanging out in Vallejo and they have embraced Copus with open arms. There is wonderful warmth, delicious food, powerful spoken word, and it's Tony's birthday - so what are you waiting for? 9pm. $7 cover. 301 Nebraska Street, Vallejo. www.rafaelsbarvallejo.com.

The Cannery outdoor stage has re-opened and they are featuring live music every Friday and Sunday now. Copus will be performing on SUNDAY, JUNE 20th, from 2:15-4:15pm. It's free, it's outdoors, and it's right across from a yummy Mexican restaurant with great margaritas! Copus will also be playing there on SUNDAY, JULY 4th from noon to 3:00pm. As you locals know, the Fisherman's Wharf/Cannery area on the Fourth of July is non-stop music, so come on by and listen to a little of what is good about America. The Cannery, 2801 Leavenworth. www.thecannery.com.

2. PHOENIX RISING GIGS.
Wendy and Monica are taking San Jose by storm! We realize it's exactly an hour drive, but this new space is really quite lovely and it's definitely worth a few dollars of gas to hear them perform at Center Stage - grand piano, good coffee, nice ambiance, free admission. The next performances are THURSDAY, JUNE 3rd, and FRIDAY, JUNE 11th. 7:30pm. 1608 S. De Anza Blvd., San Jose.

The dynamic duo also will be performing at the Cannery on FRIDAY, MAY 28th, from 2:15-5:15pm. As it is Monica's birthday on that Sunday, come on by and give her a birthday hug! 2801 Leavenworth. www.thecannery.com.

3. POETS + COMPOSERS.
Our Internet presence is increasing exponentially each month. If you haven't tuned in yet, you need to reserve an hour on Friday nights to check out the interviews, live songs, and killer words of Bay Area poets and composers. Every 2nd + 4th FRIDAYS of each month at 8pm PST, we bring the best of our region to listeners worldwide. We are averaging 8,000 listeners per show. Where are you in the mix? www.artistfirst.com.

4. OUR NEWEST COPUS MUSIC BOARD MEMBER.

We would like to welcome Sandeep Vishnu to our advisory board. With an MBA in International Business from Georgetown and as a financial advisor to corporations such as AT+T and Bank of America, we know that he will bring great insight to the business! www.malvernpartners.com.

5. TOMMY OSUNA/WORLD RHYTHM MAGAZINE.

The story of the Tommy Osuna/Copus relation is an interesting one - and only promises to continue and expand. Royal and Wendy were attending the MIDEM music conference in Cannes, France in January 2001. The first folks we met in the huge Wall Street-like convention buzz were quiet, unassuming Tommy and his eager energy manager John. There was an instant connection - partially because we were all there from California and partially because the chemistry of musical and business understanding was tangible. We exchanged business cards and seemingly that was the end of our pleasant conversation.

Three years later Royal received a phonecall from Tommy (who had kept the Copus card - pretty organized!) and now was publishing a magazine called 'World Rhythm' and wanted to interview us. The May/June issue is out now with Wendy and Royal on the cover and a wonderful conversation inside. When Tommy was visiting last month, we took him to the "Listen + Be Heard" event in Vallejo and he shared his amazing guitar virtuosity with all of us lucky listeners! Thanks, Tommy, for everything. Our plans are just beginning.

6. SOMETHING COOL IN OUR STORE.
Have you visited our store lately? We have great T-shirts, ballcaps, blank journals for all of you poets out there - plus even a Copus Music clock. How cool is that? Take a look for yourself: www.cafepress.com/copusmusic.
