1. MAY GIGS
FRIDAY, MAY 6th. Copus is returning once again to wondrous Vallejo this
Friday night. Having performed at the Listen + Be Heard Café
last month, we can personally say that this is one of the nicest performing
spaces in the Bay Area - great ambience, wonderful folks, good sound
system, and the best hosts anywhere. Due to the overwhelming success
of the performing arts series/magazine "Listen + Be Heard",
the unstoppable Martha Cinader and Tony Mims have opened up their own
place called - yes, you guessed it - the Listen + Be Heard Café.
They don't have their liquor license yet, but don't let that stop you
from coming out to hear the dynamic poet/literature professor Luis M.
Syquia and Copus on one stage - there is no high higher than a natural
one from hearing the word and feeling the music in your soul! Show starts
at 8pm. 818 Marin Street, Vallejo. $5 cover before 8:30 - $8 after.
Ladies free before 9pm. 707-554-4540 or www.listenandbeheard.net for
more information.
SATURDAY, MAY 7th.
As part of the United Nations 60th Anniversary party and promotion of
peace, there will be a reception, art opening, open mic, and special
guests COPUS performing at the Red Victorian Peace Center Bed &
Breakfast - 1665 Haight Street. 5-9pm. The Red Vic (a couple of doors
down from the movie theatre by the same name) is a San Francisco landmark.
"As the only historic hotel on world famous Haight Street near
Golden Gate Park, each guest room honors the 1967 summer of love and
inspires us to carry the best of those anticipatory ideals of peace,
social and environmental justice into our shared future world."
Come and check out a bit of history and fun! Phone 415-864-1978 for
information/directions. www.redvic.com.

MONTEREY IN JUNE.
Copus has been asked to perform at the Summer Fest Arts + Crafts Faire
sponsored by the Pacific Repertory Theatre in Monterey on SATURDAY,
JUNE 25th. The event is held outside right at Fisherman's Wharf in Monterey
from 9am - 6pm both Saturday and Sunday. I'm thinking Clint Eastwood
will drop by to speak a few words with Copus! For more details, please
check out www.pacrep.org/faires2005.
3. WHISPERS CD - RELEASE
PARTY.
I know many of you are eagerly awaiting the debut release by Phoenix
Rising (aka Wendy + Monica). It is being completed as we speak and we
anticipate it to be in your hot, little hands within the next week or
so. We are busily planning a performance and CD release party for mid-June,
so stay tuned for detail announcements!
4. MOTHER'S DAY SHOPPING.
Don't forget Mom this Sunday! Why not visit the Copus store and buy
her something truly unique! www.cafepress.com/copusmusic.
5. POETRY SECTION.
Words to remind
us of the essentials, from Royal Kent -
The Haves Have
The Have Nots
In A Knot
The Have Have
The Have Nots
In A Rot
Have You Any
Idea Just Who
And What
Created This Plot
For The Haves Have
All While All Others
Have Naught
Now There Is
One Thing That
I Must Interject Here
As I Nearly Forgot
The Have Nots Have
That Which For Centuries
The Haves Have Sought
This Would Be Strength
Which Is Greater Than
Strength Itself
Beauty Which Cannot
Be Duplicated Nor Destroyed
And The Will To
Endure
Even Unto The
Very End

Stay healthy and strong! Happy Spring!
Peace,
Wendy + Royal
